Day #1: New Year’s day 2010. DREAMLINING.
DAY #1 – New Year’s day 2010.
I have decided to start writing on this blog, hopefully more frequently, documenting everything that happens and will want to happen to me this year. I have decided to fulfill my goal of creating an autonomous business that is driven online, and create a passive income to finance my dreams and enable me to live life. With this goal, I am utilizing Tim Ferriss’s book “4 Hour Work Week”, and the lessons learned by people who have used the book to create the life they want.
The first phase of the book I want to tackle is ‘dream lining’. DREAMLINING, what a cool concept. Today I want to start thinking about the things that really matter to me in life, and also start brainstorming about the things I have always wanted to do. This phase is tough for me since I have always constricted myself in the things I want to do, often listening to people (parents), telling me that things are not possible. The worst thing is believing things aren’t possible because someone else says so. That’s not how I want to live from this day forward.
About Me.
My name is Marc. It’s tough to write about myself but along with this blog, I have decided to set a resolve to be more open about my life to the world, at least to this blog.
I grew up in the Philippines until I was 11. Like many Filipinos who reached the U.S., my parents are professionals. My mom is a nurse, like many millions of Filipinos in the United States, that was our ticket to being able to migrate out of the Philippines. My dad was a mechanical engineer who worked abroad for many years. He was able to travel to the Middle East, mostly doing contractual work, working in manufacturing plants in Saudi Arabia and Iraq for a couple of years. When we migrated to the U.S., my dad had many problems getting work. It was due to a lot of things, but my mom often thinks it was due to his incapability to communicate well. It’s too bad since my dad is pretty good with organizing work. I often think he likes to organize work and boss people, more so than actually doing the work himself, more of a chef and less of a cook. I think this trait from my dad let me to develop a totally different leadership perspective. I often strive to become a serving leader, one who doesn’t mind doing the ‘nitty gritty’ work but capable in turning on the leadership for everyone to follow. I like leading by example.
Back to Dreamlining….
I have downloaded the following dreamlining worksheet. I found a revised worksheet by doing a search online. Tim revised the worksheet based on many feedbacks he received. I downloaded the worksheet here: http://www.technotheory.com/2008/03/dreamline-worksheet-20-updates-to-the-popular-4-hour-workweek-spreadsheet/
Since I just downloaded this spreadsheet, I will work on this during this weekend. Today is Friday 1.1.10 (what an awesome day, of new beginnings!!), I have started dreaming dreams. I will call this phase the DREAM Phase of my journey. I am excited and ecstatic to be doing this and finally taking some action in fulfilling my dream. I hope it progresses towards something great, amazing, and worthwhile. I am also filled with so much gratitude, and I think that’s a feeling that’s always good to start with.
In addition to this blog, I have to following online sites:
http://jotjotzzz.tumblr.com – Post a lot of things that inspire me on this site. Quotes, videos, pictures, lectures, information that I find motivates me. I will be using this site as a clipboard to motivate me.
My twitter is here: http://twitter.com/jotjotzzz
I also have a Facebook, I will wait until posting this one to the world. I’d prefer to know the people I add as friends before I give them my facebook page.
I expect great things to happen this year. Til next time. Peace, love, gratitude. =)
